2012 was all about learning. And the number one thing I learned about
building a small business is building relationships. Whether it's with
your clients or with fellow artists, my year was definitely about
relationships.
I met SO many incredible people involved in their
own small business ventures, from newbies to seasoned veterans, and each
one taught me something about myself and about my business. I would not
be where I am, starting 2013 without them. I am truly thankful for
their inspiration and encouragement and friendship.
On top of
this, I met some absolutely incredible people at each show I did, and in
words only, through the wonderful world of online selling. Passerbys at
shows who just wanted to know about what I was doing, what my story
was. I loved those chats.
I don't do resolutions, but some of the
things I'd like to be more mindful of in 2013.... get the hell out of
the city more - mother nature is the most inspiring person I know. less
is more - focus on what you do best, expand as you need to not when you
think you need to. social time with like minded people is extra icing on
the cake - nourishes the soul AND inspires the creativity. focus on why
communication is still more important that tweeting ;)
And for all the other small business peeps out there, here is a great post from A Beautiful Mess with 5 of the best tips for creative businesses'
Happy creating in 2013 and stay tuned for all the FUN I'll be unleashing on the world.
